P& O Cruises - Aurora
MJM Group acted as the main contractor in the refitting of P&O’s Aurora Cruise ship at the end of 2014, at dry-dock in Hamburg. This was completed as part of P&O’s successful remodelling of the entire ship which also included a respray to the hull and funnel. The refit encompassed many areas on-board, including bars, restaurants, a casino, kid’s areas and a library. MJM’s employees worked in shifts 24 hours a day to complete the refit, ensuring a round the clock service that was completed to specification two days ahead of schedule.
The most impressive portion of the work involved the offsite modular component manufacture of new passenger cabins, after which they were fully erected and packaged, and then shipped to the dry dock in Hamburg for installation. All preparation from build to packaging, took place in MJM’s 100,000sq ft. manufacturing site. This service is now available for any contract where applicable, greatly reducing dry-dock schedules.
In completing much of the cabin work before the ship even reached dry-dock, MJM were able to complete this contract 15 days ahead of the closest competitor estimate.
Brian McConville, Managing Director has stated that MJM “are rewriting the rule-book on rebuilding cruise ship cabins, with our project turnover unrivalled in the industry.”
