The MJM Group was delighted to have taken part in Action Cancer’s Charity Shop Takeover this year. The money raised will be put to use within Northern Ireland to help cancer patients and their families get the support and care they need through their journeys.
MJM held numerous fundraising activities in the run-up to the challenge, including a raffle, with all prizes donated by ourselves and our supply chain, a charity football match between office and warehouse staff, and a go-karting night for employees and families.
When it came to the challenge itself, the task was simple: Make as much money as possible for Action Cancer through sales, donations and fundraising methods, and raise awareness and publicity whilst doing so.
The event took the form of a competition against other local businesses who had all taken over local Action Cancer stores on the 17th September 2015.
Thanks to generous donations from staff, friends and families, and the hard work from volunteers from Action Cancer, our shop challenge was a huge success, with a large turn-out and great energy about the store. Live music from our very own Stephen McNulty, free tea, coffee & buns and several children’s characters made us the place to be on Hill Street, not to mention our larger-than-life Minion!
A boardroom showdown in the Ramada Hotel in Belfast concluded the journey with Action Cancer, with MJM being awarded the prize for most sales on the day of over £3800! In total, the thirteen companies taking part raised £113,364. This phenomenal sum is a credit to everyone involved and will be of benefit to many sufferers nationwide. MJM is proud of its fundraising achievements but also of raising awareness within our workforce of the facilities provided by Action Cancer in the detection, prevention and other support services against cancer.
MJM would like to thank everyone involved in our challenge from start to finish for helping to make it a success.
The bar has been set high for next year’s challenge already!
